Nexus International
At Nexus International we are proud to support students from around the globe. We want to change the narrative around autism and neurodiversity. Neurodivergence is a broad umbrella and can include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. The purpose of this programme is to create an environment that will facilitate neurodivergent students to grow and achieve their full potential. It is about facilitating a community of practice for universities and colleges to work together to create these environments and opportunities for neurodivergent young adults.
We are also passionate about supporting students with mental health and wellbeing challenges. We are committed to ensuring every student reaches their potential. Please check with your college or university to see if our services are available locally.
Student support
1
Personalised Learning Plans
Individualised Plan - these can be tailored to meet the specific needs of students. They may include accommodations like extended time for tests, a quieter space for exams, or alternative methods of assessment.
2
Specialised Tutoring Strategies
Tutors can use different techniques to cater to different learning styles. For example, using visual aids, hands-on activities, and assistive technologies can help students with ADHD, dyslexia, or autism learn more effectively.
3
Social and Emotional Support
Counselling services, social skills training, or group therapy can help students with autism or ADHD navigate social situations, manage stress, and improve emotional regulation.
4
Assistive Technology
Tools like text-to-speech software, audiobooks, speech recognition programmes, and electronic worksheets can be incredibly helpful for students with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences.
5
Sensory-Friendly Environments
Creating study spaces that accommodate sensory sensitivities (e.g., reducing noise, using soft lighting, or providing fidget tools) can help neurodiverse students with sensory processing challenges focus and feel more comfortable.
6
Peer Mentoring and Support Groups
Pairing neurodivergent students with peer mentors or forming student support groups can help them feel more connected and understood within the learning community.
7
Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
Some neurodivergent students also face mental health challenges, such as anxiety or depression. Offering counselling services, mindfulness programs, arts therapy and bibliotherapy resources can help students cope with these difficulties and improve their overall wellbeing.
